In its determination to contail of kidnapping, the Department of State Service () in collaboration with the military, has arrested suspected abductors and killers of of Adara Chiefdom of Kaduna State, HRH Maiwada Galadima.

The said that relative peace has since returned to Kaduna State after the violent disturbances that followed the abduction and gruesome murder of and some of his security details.

Public Relations Officer at the Department of State Services, National Headquarters, Peter N. Afunanya assured that concerted efforts are being made to address the resurgence of organised criminal activities in the North-West and surrounding areas especially in Kaduna, Katsina, Zamfara with the arrest of high kidnappers and notorious elements in different locations of the states and beyond.

“On 25th October, 2018, in Riga Chikun, Kaduna State, five members of a dreaded kidnap gang whose operations span between Kaduna and Katsina states were apprehended. Those nabbed are: Isa Ahmadu (Gang Leader), Suleiman Umar (Ransom negotiator), Ibrahim Mallam, Ishaku Saidu (aka Ishe) and Mansur Mallam.

“After a preliminary investigation, the group’s hideout in Katsina State was raided and this led to the arrest of two other members of the group namely, Muhammadu Ibrahim and Muhammed Isa,” Afunanya saidin a statement.

He stated that a a covert operation on 19th October, 2018 led to the arrest of Sirajo Ibrahim, a famous kidnapper at Hayin Danmni, Igabi LGA while an accomplice Dani Sainyinan was picked up at Yabo LGA, Sokoto State. Just as the duo of Abubakar Umar and Suleiman Sani were arrested for gun running. Also, between 11th and 12th October, 2018, suspected armed bandits operating around Zamfara State were arrested in Bakura, Tsafe and Bungudu LGAs of the state with several dangerous automatic weapons.

Those arrested were Dan-Alhaji Dan-Mineri, Yusuf Khalif and MUSA Mallam, while Muhammed Aminu, a suspected gunrunner and his accomplice, Dare Okunwola (aka Boda) at Lere LGA and Agindi, Jos in Kaduna respectively. During a search in Okunwola’s residence, several ammunitions and eight AK-47 rifles were recovered.

“At Toungo LGA, Adamawa State, Abbas Abubakar (aka Sambo) a suspected Improvised Explosives Device (IED) expert for the Islamic State in West Africa (ISWA) was apprehended.

“Others arrested at North Bank, Makurdi, Benue State where renowned cultists, Yakubu Mohammed and Joseph Andoaasin while exhibits such as   cartridges and a locally made pistol were recovered from them. At the start of October, the trio of Abdulhamid Isa, Adamu Adagiri and Nuhu Ahmed, who are members of a kidnap gang that operate between Kogi and Edo States were arrested.

“Investigations have so far uncovered leads that will enable the Service and other sister agencies to address of kidnaping in the country. Suspects will undoubtedly be prosecuted in accordance with the law. The DSS reassures the public that the tempo of these operations will not only be sustained, but will be strengthened for greater impact on the well being of the people.

“The Service, therefore, enjoins everyone to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and avail them with useful information that would assist them carry out necessary operations to guarantee peace especially at the coming yuletide and general elections,” Afunanya appealed.
