Pa Ogboo, who looked disheveled and downcast, told our reporters that when he received the news of Benjamin’s death, he attributed it to the enemies of the family and quickly decided to consult a diviner to unravel the cause and source of the development. Unknown to him, death was still lurking in the background. Ogboo returned from the spiritual consultation the following day to discover that his second grandson, Elochukwu, had committed suicide.

The 35-year-old hanged himself on June 8, a day after his younger brother, was crushed to death by a tipper.

“My daughter and , Chukwunonso, had been buried a earlier. And a day before that Saturday, Elochukwu’s younger brother, Benjamin had been crushed to death by a truck close to my home.

However, a neighbour who craved anonymity, accused Pa Ogboo of being the architect of his misfortune, alleging that he had told the late Benjamin that he wished he (Benjamin) were the one crushed by the truck, instead of Elochukwu, whom he said was more responsible. The source asserted, therefore, it was the suicide’s grandfather that pressured him into taking his life.

According the source, “Benjamin had been a layabout and a notorious drunk in Amaezike village, Agulu and had been the shame of his elderly grandfather. His younger brother, however, was unemployed and dumb.

The visibly traumatised 89-year-old Ogboo, however, denied uttering such a statement.

Orient neighbours woke up early morning of Saturday, June 8, 2019 to behold his lifeless body in a 3-bedroom bungalow under construction.
