An Ikeja magistrates’ court on Friday remanded a 23-year-old man, Wisdom Joseph, in Kirikiri Prisons for allegedly robbing a man of his mobile phone valued at N 56,000 at gun point.
The chief magistrate, Mrs I. A. Abina, refused hearing the plea of the accused and ordered his remand in prison.Joseph, a carpenter, who resides at Ajegunle area, Lagos, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and robbery.
The prosecutor, Raji Akeem, told the court that the offences were committed on June 21 at 5, Aromire St., Ikoyi, Lagos.Akeem said that the accused and his accomplice jumped through the fence of the complainant building, one Mr. Christian Okoli and robbed him of his mobile phone valued at N56, 000 at gun point. “The accused and his accomplices who are now at large were armed with gun and hammer when they went to rob the complainant.
“They were trying to escape from the scene of the incident when they were sighted by the police on patrol, the other accomplices escaped while the accused was arrested,’’ he said.
The offences contravened Sections 297 and 299 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. Abina adjourned the case until July 23 for mention.(NAN)
