Tragedy befalls Obi as gunmen kill cousin’s two daughters

The family of 88-year-old Pa Solomon in Agulu, Anaocha Local Area of Anambra State, is in the news again for another tragedy following the recent attack on his son’s family during the yuletide which threw the entire family in deep mourning and lamentation rather than celebration.

It would be recalled that the octogenarian, related to the former of , Mr. Peter Obi, who was the proprietor of the popular Solo supermarket in Onitsha, was among the victims of February 15th, 2017 tanker fire explosion at Mobil filling station, opposite Dennis Memorial Grammar School (), Onitsha.

Pa Solo reportedly lost all his belongings, including four posh cars, building and over N10 million cash. He has since last year gone back to the village to start life afresh after been discharged from the hospital.

The thanksgiving mass for Pa Solomon’s survival was scheduled for December 28 at his home town Agulu. Orient Daily learnt and all his children and grand-children were mandated to return for the celebration, unknown to them that another tragedy awaits the family.

Orient Daily reliably gathered that unknown gunmen, on December 21, 2017 attacked the family of Mr. John Alor, the first son of Pa Solomon Alor on their arrival for the thanksgiving at Onitsha.

The incident, which occurred at Borromeo Area, close to Onitsha Army Barracks at about 5:00, claimed the life of Vivian Alor, 10 and her younger sister Onyinye Alor, 7 while their mother is in critical condition at an undisclosed hospital in Enugu after being shot on the jaw at close range.

According to a family member and former Senior Special Assistant to the Anambra State on Youth Moblisation, Hon. Nduka Alor, the family has lodged official complain to the Anambra State Police command and the .

“We have petitioned the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris and the Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano on the gruesome murder and attack on our family because this is strange to the security of lives and properties of the citizens of this which the governor has been rated high.

“As I speak to you now, my brother’s wife is in a very critical condition and in a matter of , she will be flown abroad for surgery as her jaw was badly damaged and what is surprising us most is that the perpetrators of the act have not been apprehended 20 days later.

“We are very traumatised as we keep wondering why the two kids were killed and we don’t know if they were hired assassins or armed robbers and why they targeted my family. The police should speed up the investigation because such a wicked and barbaric act has not happened in Anambra State in the recent . Our governor has done so well in the area of security and that is why we are calling on the security agencies to hasten the investigation.

“We don’t want to discredit the security agents in the state and that is why we are calling for thorough investigation into the matter. The greatest thing we are expecting from the government and security agencies is to fish out the perpetrators because we are still in shock and our life is still in danger including our own children that are now the target of the attack,” he lamented.

Efforts to reach the PPRO, Nkeiru Nwode for comments proved abortive as at the of filing this report.
