There was confusion at the weekend at the Nigerian Air force base Port Harcourt as one Mrs. Irobuisi, wife of Air Commodore C. C. Irobuisi, the Deputy Director of Safety Defence Headquarters, Abuja allegedly inflicted machete injuries on an unidentified officer at the Airforce Secondary School Port Harcourt.
The report has it that a civilian teacher gave the senior officer’s daughter a phone to report the incident to her. Mrs. Irobuisi immediately drove to the school with a cutlass concealed from sight. While discussions were ongoing, she brought out the cutlass and attempted to kill the airman.
Even though the air man survived the attack, he was said to be seriously injured and rushed to the NAF Reference Hospital, Port Harcourt where he is currently receiving medical attention.
Our source has it that this was not the first time the assailant was assaulting officers and airmen, having done so severally at different locations earlier.
She was alleged to have been suspended a few years back from the Nigerian Air Force Officers Wife Association, NAFOWA, for slapping and biting an officer’s wife.
Efforts to get the reaction of the Nigerian Air Force in Port Harcourt did not yield any result as after several calls and telephone messages to the Air Force Public Relations Officer [who sources simply identified as Samson] refused to talk to our correspondent, saying he did not know what he was talking about.
