A 37-year old pastor and the founder of the Heavenly Network Ministry, Sapele in Delta state, has been apprehended for allegedly raping a girl in his church.
The suspect, identified simply as Pastor Abraham, allegedly abused the girl, a thirteen-year-old member of his church last Monday during vigil.
The victim told police officers at Sapele Police Division where the matter was reported, that the clergyman forcefully had a carnal knowledge of her that fateful night, and later offered her huge sums of money to keep the secret, which she declined.
“Pastor Collins forced me at our church around Gana quarters in Sapele town. He has two kids and married, hence, he did it with me inside the church during an all night”, the victim alleged.
The accused however, dismissed the rape allegation as untrue, claiming that that the devil was using the girl to tarnish his reputation. He equally denied holding an all night service at the church last Monday.
He said that it was unfortunate that some people are in the House of God but being used by the devils, regretting that such was the case of the girl.
A police officer at the Sapele Police Station, who spoke to journalists in the area on condition of anonymity, confirmed the arrest of the pastor, disclosing that police was undergoing investigation on the allegations.
The Delta state Commissioner of Police, CP Adeyinka Adeleke, who equally confirmed the arrest, said investigation into the allegations were ongoing. He stressed that on completion of investigation, the suspect will be charged to court.
