detectives at the Delta state command Asaba have arrested internet fraud­sters, popularly known as “Yahoo Boys” following their failed attempt on Monday to use their girlfriends for .

The commissioner of in the state, Mustafa Muham­mad, who confirmed the arrest of the suspects to journalists on Saturday in Asaba, said “the suspects have been going out with the girls as their girl­friends and they lavish money on them until the fateful Monday when they gave them water in pots to drink, one of them refused and immediately called her brother at the State CID and described the house to them, and the mobil­ised to the house and arrested them in two bedroom and a parlour apartment around Ifant Jesus area of Asaba”.

The police boss gave the suspects names as Tochukwu Tobi, 35, Ikedihua Emeka, 34, and Dennis Sylvia 35, adding that they, having made useful statements to the police, were being detained for further investigation as they will be charged to court on comple­tion of investigation.

Only few weeks ago, the police in Ovwian, Udu local government area of the state were reported to have arrest­ed a middle aged man identi­fied as Chucks Okwudifuo, for his alleged attempt to use his neighbour for in the area.

The reports indicated that the suspect was exposed to the police after the victim escaped and reported to the police in Ovwian,Udu Community who immediately mobilised to the scene and arrested the suspect.

The victim Joseph Fredrick who narrated his ordeals to journalists in the area said,:”, the suspect called me to follow him to see his pastor down the lonely road in Orhuwhorun quarters in Ovwian. I was hypnotised and I didn’t know what I was doing again. As he was going to tie my hands, God woke me up and he was shocked when I started shout­ing for police to come and they came and he was arrested”.

CP Mustafa Muhammad disclosed that working hard with a view to arresting other Yahoo boys in the state, adding, “The police will leave no stone unturned to ensure that all the Yahoo boys are brought to book. The police have enough reports on the Yahoo boys and we are closing on them, very soon it will be history in Yahoo, Yahoo in the state”
