Residents of Isiagu Ibakwa in Igboeze South local government council of Enugu
state are still in shock over the alleged beheading of a widow, Beatrice Ugwueze
by her 13 years old son, Ifesinachi in the community.
It was reliably gathered that late Beatrice was alone in her home grinding pepper
for lunch with a local grinding stone when Ifesinachi allegedly besieged her from
behind and with a machete, severed her head from her body.
The screams and groans of the woman when the boy performed the act drew the
attention of her neighbours and other members of the community chased after
Ifesinachi as he attempted to escape. They caught him after a hot chase, tied him,
beat him up and forced him to drink the pool of blood gushing out of his mother’s
By the time police operatives arrived the scene; the boy had lost consciousness
and was later confirmed dead.
Confirming the incident, Enugu state police public relations officer, SP Ebere
Amaraizu, told newsmen that the tragedy happened at about 1:30 pm at Isiagu
Ibagwa in Igbo-Eze South local government area of Enugu state.
“Ifesinachi Ukwueze, allegedly murdered his mother identified as Beatrice
Ukwueze with a cutlass over a yet to be established issues.
“It was further gathered that the action of Ifesinachi Ukwueze allegedly angered
irate mob who had descended heavily on him and left him lifeless before the
arrival of the security operatives.
He further disclosed that the corpse of the deceased son and the mother “have
been deposited in a nearby mortuary just as a full-scale investigations have
commenced into the incident.”
