state governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, says the proposed City at Project, will form part of the flagship projects in the new economic city.

Receiving a delegation of the lnter Ministerial Steering Committee on on a fact finding tour of the proposed site of the project at , Dr Ikpeazu, said that when completed, the project would generate about 7,000 jobs which will help reduce unemployment.

The governor, represented by his deputy, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, appealed to the federal government to consider building another that would connect Onne , Rivers state, to help in the distribution of produce from .

The governor, who enumerated the components and composition of the project, said that due to its strategic importance, it has continued to attract investors’ interest both within and outside the country and thanked President Buhari for his interest in the project.

He said that all hands must be on deck to ensure early completion of the project due to the inherent benefits and the high volume of jobs it will create.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation and director of legal department, Federal Ministry of Transport, Mr Pius Oteh, said they were impressed by what they saw on ground as it met one of the compulsory requirements for the establishment of the port.

Mr. Oteh, assured that they would make recommendations to the minister to grant license for the project and expressed confidence that the project will see the light of the day, when fully completed, the project would boost not only the economy of the state but also the nation at large.

He commended the state government for the proactive measure it has taken in engaging host communities to ensure that the project is realised.

Also speaking, the Chief Executive Officer of City, Chief Dan Uzo, expressed confidence that the visit of the team will go a long way in fast tracking the realization of Governor Ikpeazu’s vision of making a reference point in the comity of states.
