Thunberg unexpectedly tweeted that she was ending her school strike and rally outside the Swedish parliament that began in August. It has since snowballed into a global wave of school strikes urging action to tackle climate change.
“After talking to so many of our leaders I have now realised that they have the climate crisis under control, they understand the emergency and are ready to act. So I’ve now decided to stop striking and go back to school for good. I will no longer school strike on Fridays,’’ she wrote on Twitter.
Thunberg on Friday joined thousands of pupils in Berlin at a “Fridays for Future” rally ending at the Brandenburg Gate. (dpa/NAN)
