Anambra State government has received the sum of N6.121bn from the N243.795bn second tranche of the Paris Club refunds disbursed by the Federal Government through the Ministry of Finance.
A statement by the Director of Information, Federal Ministry of Finance, Mr. Salisu Dambatta said that, Imo State received N7bn; Enugu State received N5.361bn; Abia State received N5.715; and Ebonyi State got N4.508bn.
Orient Daily reports that Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, on May 4, approved the release of the fund upon the condition that a minimum of 75 per cent of the fund would be used for the payment of state government arrears of workers’ salaries and pensions, as part of effort to boost the economy.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun has said that her ministry is reviewing the impact of the funds on the level of arrears owed by various state governments, adding that a detailed report is being compiled for presentation to the Acting President, as part of approval for the release of any subsequent tranches.
