The Gbaramatu Traditional Council in Warri South-West Local Area of Delta has hailed the Presidency for a recent order issued to the Army to immediate return the ancestral sword it allegedly took from Egbesu Shrine back to the Gbaramatu Kingdom.

The Secretary of Gbaramatu Traditional Council, Chief Godspower Gbenekama gave the commendation in an exclusive chat with Orientdaily News on Wednesday.

Gbenekama stated that the Gbaramatu people including their monarch will gladly receive the golden sword which he christened the symbol of authority in Egbesu shrine.

“The President’s order is a welcome . Since 2016, soldiers took the golden sword. They should return it and we will gladly receive it. We are waiting for them to return it.”

Gbenekama condemned the negative actions of the soldiers from the 4th Brigade led by Brigadier Gen. Faruk Yahaya, stressing that, ” the Army has reduced themselves to people who pick things from people.”

The Gbaramatu Scribe also noted that the Gbaramatu Traditional Council was not ready to take anyone to over the stolen golden sword for now, pointing out that the gods can fight for itself.

Gbenekama explained that the payment of a reparation to the kingdom as ordered by a has not been made by the federal over the bombings of their abode in 2009.

He called on the peace loving people of Gbaramatu Kingdom to remain calm as things fall in shape.

It would be recalled some soldiers allegedly confiscated the golden sword (symbol of authority) and other property worth millions of naira from Egbesu Shrine under the guise of searching for the former leader of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta, MEND, High Chief Oweizide Government Ekpemupolo Alias Tompolo.
