Isuaniocha PG kicks against appointment of caretaker committee - the anambra state, president general, onyeagolu regretted that, isuaniocha, Committee, caretaker committee, Caretaker
By Francis Ekpone
The embattled of community in Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State, Chief Tony Nkem Onyeagolu has carpeted the Anambra State Governor, Willie obiano on his recent announcement of the dissolution of the elected executive members of the town union of the town.
He however described his purported removal as a slap on Association of Town Unions (ASATU), describing the act as unfair and unjust.
The unabated crisis rocking the sleepy community led to the dissolution of the Onyeagolu’s executive and setting up a which has Hon. Ike Okonkwo as chairman, Rubben Okoye, Vice chairman and Francis Mkpume as secretary.
Other members of the include Luke Obinabo, Nnamdi Oduenyi, Vincent Okafor and Cletus Nnaemeka.
Anambra State government was unfair to him for the hasty dissolution of his executive and called on the government to consider setting up an independent body to look into the remote and immediate cause of the crisis rocking the community
Recall that Tony Onyeagolu was elected of community on May 14, 2017 and is expected to complete his tenure in the next two years.
Onyeagolu made the call while speaking to Orient Daily on the recent problems bedeviling the community.
According to him, the setting up of a neutral body to meet with stakeholders involved would bring a lasting peace rather than constituting a that have  some of the agitated leaders as members.
Mr despite all efforts made by his executive to get government attention on the disputed Isuaniocha secondary school land through series of letters to relevant authorities, some stakeholders in the community with personal interest to protect kept scuttling the peace process with the assistance of some non indigenes of the community who, he said, are closer to the government.
He noted that the recent crisis in the area had retarded the pace of development as many land developers were beginning to abandon their projects sited in the community.
According to him, “Anambra State Government doesn’t want to listen to my cry and that of my community. I am still waiting for them to come to our rescue. People are shooting and maiming people just to make my seat ungovernable so that government can dissolve my executive and install a .
“I heard from grapevine that government has set up a but I am yet to be served and notified on that but that is very unfair. I expect government to set up an independent panel to investigate the remote and immediate crisis in the community before any action.
“I am shocked that government appointed Ike Okonkkwo as the chairman of the caretaker and the said Ike Okonkwo happens to be an elder brother to Cosmas Okoknkwo who is a party to the crisis in Isuaniocha. The crisis in the community lingers because there are other external forces that are behind the crisis and they know them.
“They have beaten me severally and destroyed my properties, yet, nobody came to my rescue. I am surprised that government did nothing. The genesis of the whole matter is that former local Government Chairman of Awka North, Chief Cosmas Okonkwo and other land grabbers want to take over the land belonging to community secondary school, Isuaniocha and I said no to that.
“If government fails to do the needful, the crisis will continue unabated. Some developers are already withdrawing from Isuaniocha. They are not fighting me as a person, they are just fighting the entire community” he said.
