The Movement for the Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, otherwise called Biafra Independent Movement, BIM, Tuesday in Onitsha, Anambra state, warned that it would deal with any politicians or group of persons that use her name to achieve selfish interest.
Sounding the note of warning, the Anambra North zonal leader, Damian Nzekwe, reiterated that, “politicians and others with selfish interest that use MASSOB name to intimidate those they want to exploit, extort or injure will not be spared when caught”.
The warning, he hinted, was sequel to reports reaching the zone that most criminal activities being perpetrated in the area were being carried out by MASSOB members there”.
He described the rumour as baseless, untrue, false and of no effect and attributed it to political opponents to the leadership of Okpoko Development Union. “We cannot be used by any politician or group of persons and I want to use this medium to warn that any politician that uses MASSOB name in this zone for selfish interest will be dealt with as such a person has the intension of dragging MASSOB name to the mud.
He denied the allegation making the round that MASSSOB was being used to perpetrate illegal activities in the zone and urged residents to report anything suspicious to the MASSOB office.
“This is a body struggling to actualise a sovereign state of Biafra because of the marginalisation of the Igbo nation and anybody who wants to capitalise on the name of MASSOB for selfish interest should better desist as we will deal with such a person no matter how highly placed in the society. This warning is especially for politicians and other criminally intended elements in the zone”.
