The Nigeria Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) says it is working towards executing world class projects aimed at industrialising Bayelsa state, stressing that the ongoing Nigeria Oil and Gas Park in Emeyal 1 community in Ogbia local government area of the state when will create massive employment and economic transformation.
Executive Secretary of NCDMB, Engr. Simibi Kesiye Wabote who made the disclosure during a town hall meeting organised to intimate contractors on the next phase of the project also disclosed that the Board was working on a refinery project in Bayelsa in partnership with Azikel Refinery Promoters.
The managing director of Isokariari and Sons (Nig) Limited, Engr. Obelema Isokariari, also disclosed that about 80 persons from the benefiting community have been engaged in the project so far. He promised to always organize skills acquisition programs to effectively impact positively to the lives of the people in the area.
He assured that the project will not stall as the company has vibrant funding partners and that the perennial flood been experience in Bayelsa State would not affect the execution of the project in the community. Isokariari also promised to execute quality Gas Park that would attract investors and tourists which Oloibiri been the first community to be discovered commercial quantity of crude oil in 1956.
The paramount ruler of Ogbia Kingdom, King Dumaro Charles Owaba, said the Gas Park when completed will attract development to the Emeyal and its environs, create job opportunities and will become a business hub.
King Charles Owaba said the Town Hall Meeting afforded them the opportunity to present challenges affecting the community and the kingdom, noting that Bayelsa state has not felt the impact of development most especially Ogbia people since the exploration of crude oil in 1956.
The chairman of Ijaw Youth Council Central Zone, Comrade Kennedy Olorogun expressed its support for the board in its quest to engage youths positively for empowerment and sustainable development of human capacity.
He expressed hope that the project will engender infrastructural development, human capacity development and make youth sustainably engaged and productive.
