The new Group Managing Director of the Nigeria National Petroleum Cooperation NNPC, Engineer Mele Kolo Kyari, has said that his administration will record no corrupt case as the effort will bring a turn-around in the oil industry.
Kyari also hinted that his administration will be injecting over $40million dollars in Nigerians external reserve, with the full capacity operation of Four Major Nigerian refineries including the emerging effort of the Dangote refineries as well as proliferation of Modular refineries across the country.
The new Group Managing Director GMD, made this promise Monday, during the official hand-over ceremony and validatory section held in the honour of the out going GMD Maikanti Baru.
According to Kyari, his mandate should be citizens oriented which means transparency and honesty for the service of Nigerians. “What IAM saying is that with I recognize that leadership is a trust which we do not need to abuse. To journalists I can assure you that says are gone when the doors are shot you out. I can assure you that everything I do here will be in the public glearing. We welcome every constructive criticisms and in the same vain I advise all my backroom staff never to accept gratifications from the public”.
While admonishing Oil companies both local and international, he promised an open door policy with the believe to place the country in global economic map through legitimate oil revenue.
“I must tell you that tell you that at the very beginning, My belief is to deliver the expectation of every Nigerians towards self-reliance as oil producing Nation. Till today we are still grabbling with would be the reality in oil industry. My coming here is by Providence, if not I do not possess the best of results and the best of qualifications”.
Meanwhile, the new GMD, has said that the industry has made significant progress, which he as a staff has was part of. ” We will make this company a global company. We will remove discretions for global transparency and we must be accountable to the citizens of this country. Why should we import oil but I also assure you that within the Buhari‘s second four years of administration that we will declear four major refineries functional to full capacity to end Importation. We will also support the emergence of Dangote refinery as well as the rave of the moment the modular refineries and with so doing, this country will be next exporter of petroleum products”.
He reiterated that his administration will possibly archieve all these to grow the Nation’s Foriegn reserve to over $40b. “I will do this job with utmost intergrity with this I mean that I will drop my on personal desire for the intrests of entire Nigerians”.
Speaking earlier, while delivering his validatory speech, the out gone GMD said “it is three years since I took over as the 18th Group Managing Director of NNPC. Over these eventful 1,099 days, I have done my very best to put the Corporation in the path of recovery, then to sustainable growth. As always, there is a time when it is proper to leave the scene for fresh blood to continue the journey of leading the Corporation. For me, this time is now! My joy is, I am leaving behind competent, vibrant and good hands that I can entrust the leadership of the Organisation”
Further speaking, he said that these focus areas touched on all facets of the business including security, new business models, JV cash calls exit, production and reserve growth etc.
Baru however, charge the New Management Team to particularly focus on the areas of Staff Development. “Emphasis should be on staff development, efficiency and productivity focusing on Pursuance of a Lean Corporate Organization by redeploying staff to SBUs for better contribution to productivity and performance.
