Edjekota- women in Ughelli North local government area of Delta state staged a peaceful to their Coun­cil secretariat. The was against the of an indigene of the community, Mr. Ejabare Aria Anthony, by suspected herds­men in his farmland.

The women, in hundreds, stormed the council secretariat to officially intimate and the divisional police office (DPO) of the heinous activ­ities and incessant attacks being meted on the peace loving people of Edjekota-Ogor.

Narrating the series of ordeals passed through by the indigenes of the community anytime they went to their farmlands, the lead­er of the group, Mama Patricia Eyakpuvie, while addressing , Hon. Adode Godwin and the DPO totally condemned the of Mr. Aria whom the source disclosed was trying to prevent the armed from forcefully having carnal knowl­edge of his wife.

“Presently, we can no longer go to our farmlands because of the armed who have taken over our farmlands for grazing and molestation if challenged “. We have, therefore, protested here peacefully to issue an ultimatum of seven days to the appropriate authorities to ensure that the armed vacate Edjeko­ta- or they will extend their next to the Ogor junction axis of the East-west Road to ground vehicular movement”.

Responding, Godwin con­demned the killing and promised to yield to the demands of the protesters within the stipulated time.
