Governor Ifeanyi of Enugu state on Monday inaugurated a six-member committee to ensure maintenance of , and distribution of products in the state.
It would be recalled that the governor had on June 28 suspended activities of the Independent Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) in the state following a leadership crisis.
, while inaugurating the committee, said the IPMAN crisis had assumed frightening dimension fuelled by banditry and cultism.
The governor said that the situation had left some injured and dead, adding that the incident made it imperative to engage the relevant stakeholders to restore normalcy in the association and maintain . He said that the committee would be in charge of the and distribution of petroleum products in the state during the period of the prohibition order.
Responding, the chairman of the committee, Mr Ugwuala Eziubochi, an assistant superintendent of police, said it was an honour for them to serve the state.
Eziubochi said: “For the confidence you reposed in us, we owe you nothing than doing this assignment with passion and where necessary with ruthless candour”. He solicited for the prayers of residents of the state to enable them to succeed in the assignment.
Membership of the committee was drawn from the police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, Department of Petroleum Resources, Nigeria Bar Association and the government. (NAN)
