The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has disclosed that the 2017 yuletide was 90 per cent accident free just its Director General, Engr Maihaja Mustapha, reiterated his readiness to partner with various response agencies in disaster management.
He said the agency was able to achieve the fit through its Operation Eagle Eye and the efforts of various response agencies, which ensured that it covered identified flash point routes in Imo/Abia, including Owerri/Aba road, Owerri Onitsha road, Owerri/Umuahia road, Owerri/Okigwe road, among others.
Ugoh said the only notable accident during the period in Imo/Abia was the multiple car crash along Owerri/Aba road, adding that the military and FRSC officials were on ground to rescue the victims.
He assured of the agency’s willingness to strengthen inter-agency relationship with various stakeholders in tackling road challenges, saying that the agency will continue to focus on activities that will guarantee public safety and reduction of emergencies.
