Former vice president and the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abu­bakar, has introduced a that will allow Ni­gerians to interrogate his .

The tagged ‘Voice of the People ’, kicks off on December 2 and will end on December 24, is expected to avail the electorates the much needed opportunity to make their inputs on the PDP pres­idential candidate’s electoral agenda.

The Atiku Presidential Cam­paign says the initiative was the first time in the world that a presidential candidate will be calling for a debate on his/her policy action plan. Ac­cording to the group, “Atiku, as a candidate who keeps his cam­paign promises, will on Sunday 2nd December at 1pm launch a competition via a video broad­cast on his Facebook Page that will see 6 members of the Nige­rian public given a one minute slot on national television to say what they think needs to be done to help get Nigeria working again.”

Contributors are expected to state their names and location with a winner emerging from each of all the six geo-political zones of Nigeria. According to the group, the winners will have the opportunity to have their recording played in a national telecast between January 1 and 6, 2019.

The judging panel, led by a senator, Ben Bruce, will review the entries and select one win­ner from each geo-political zone. One key criterion for the winners will be the number of engage­ments their entry generates.
“Contributors must be Nige­rians and must agree to terms and conditions that their entry video can be used in any manner by the PDP Campaign Organ­isation in all media.

“The judg­ing criteria will be based on the following: the originality of the idea to help Get Nigeria Work­ing Again and how feasible it would be to implement; the clar­ity of how the idea is communi­cated; the creativity of the video and the number of engagements in social media the video has generated,” the organisers said.

Abubakar, it will be recalled had, during the unveiling of his via a Facebook Live broadcast on November 19, said: “I want these policies to be our policies – yours and mine. I want to hear your ideas to get Nigeria working again. So I will give the opportunity to anyone in Nigeria to have their say on national television.”
