Speaker House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara has blamed President Muhammadu Buhari for the untold hardship Nigerians are experiencing, insisting that APC led government has failed Nigerians as none of its campaign promises were fulfilled.
Dogara who stated this at Ogbaru in Ogbaru local government area of Anambra state during the campaign flag-off of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the area, however appealed to electorates to sack APC at all levels and vote massively for PDP to get Nigeria working again. He pointed out that bad governance under APC resulted to insecurity in the North East region; Borno, Zamfara, Sokoto and the country at large and as well subjected Nigerians to abject poverty, adding that PDP is the only party that has the force to unite the country once again.
“We are all Nigerians and those of us who are doing business will tell you the economic situation in the country today. Some of us that are importers will tell you how difficult it is to pay bills.
“Some of us that are in the universities will tell you how they are feeling because lecturers’ offices are under lock and key. They are on strike because of poor leadership.
“Millions of Nigerians struggle every day to survive while millions of families, more than a quarter of them go to bed every night hungry. That is how bad the situation is. In the North east where I come from, thousands are killed every day.
“The situation continued that a sitting governor cried to presidency, begging that a state of emergency be declared. In Kastina the story is the same, between Kaduna and Abuja, the story is the same.
“APC has failed in the area of economy, education, electricity, insecurity and infrastructure. These were the promises made to us but unfortunately, they have not been able to deliver. Democracy we practice in Nigeria gives us the opportunity to correct our mistakes every four years. I urge all those who lack job opportunities, proper education, hunger and poverty to vote for PDP in this coming general election” Dogara appealed.
Addressing his constituents, the deputy minority leader, Federal House of Representatives, Ogbaru federal constituency, Prince Chukwuka Onyema, promised more developmental projects and democracy dividends if re-elected.
“Let me clear doubts of people against our progress that my activity as your servant legislator remains crystal, transparent and verifiable. Ogbaru had never had it so good in the past both at Anambra state House of Assembly and national assembly. The difference is clear.
“Igbo people need to be connected to the centre and our presidential candidate; Atiku Abubakar chose our son, Peter Obi as his running mate and promised to restructure Nigeria so that we can be at par with other states. A vote for PDP is a vote for continued development and empowerment” he said.
On his part, the PDP campaign director, Chief Okoli Okwudili, noted that there are high expectations from voters come 2019 general election as APGA administration meant no well for the people of Ogbaru.
‘We expect to make people to be more aware. APGA has never done well in this local government. If you look around you will see that Senator Stella Odua, Chukwuka Onyema, and Somtoo Udeze, who is currently in the State House, are the people bringing democracy dividend for the people. The APGA government has not done anything in this local government” he said.
