The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo state, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has accused some prominent politicians from the South East of conspiring with the chairman of the Presidential Investigation Panel on Recovery of Public Funds, Chief Okoli Obono Obla, to ministerial appointment bid.

According to , those behind the are plotting to smear his image in their desperate bid to pull the plug on his bid to become a minister in President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet.

In a statement he made available through the director of media and special duties of his campaign organisation, Mr. Declan Mbadiwe Emelumba, the embattled senator claimed that his detractors, in cahoots with Chief Obla were already making advance plans to resurrect phony allegations of non-declaration of assets and non-execution of a $10m NPA contract to nail him.

According to the statement, they have gone to a in Abuja to resurrect a case filed since July last year which died a natural death when a in Port Harcourt restrained from any fur

ther harassment of the Senator. The statements read in parts: “It will be recalled that at every critical juncture in the battle for the APC Imo governorship ticket, Obla using , had come up with several, sometimes contradictory allegations, against the Senator, apparently aimed at stopping him from getting the ticket.

The statement further recalled that the so called NPA contract payment was for a project in which NPA was a majority shareholder while Uzodimma’s company only had a minority stake and reiterated that the matter was already in court of competent jurisdiction which cast doubts on Obla’s real motives for investigating a matter in court.

“It is instructive that once it was clear that had irrevocably secured the APC governorship ticket nothing was heard again from Obla about these allegations until now” the statement added.

“We know all those behind this campaign of calumny. They now have a new pay master but unfortunately they will fail as they failed before because they are plotting against a man who has won elections twice to the Senate, chaired major Senate Committees, currently the Chairman of Southern Senators Forums and the APC governorship candidate.
